Nexus Nightclub owner Dr Qhubani Moyo is standing firm amidst controversy with artistes Noluntu J and Fab G, who claim they were mistreated at a recent show. Moyo refuses to apologize, saying he won’t cater to those airing grievances on social media.
The drama began when Noluntu J and Fab G alleged they were treated poorly and denied agreed-upon services at the event, headlined by AmaPiano vocalist MaWhoo. Moyo fired back on Facebook, stating he won’t be held hostage by “arrogant artistes” and that Nexus is “in business, not charity”.
Moyo’s past is marked by controversy. He’s been involved in ZANU-PF politics and previously served as a commissioner with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). He’s seeking to represent ZANU-PF in Insiza North constituency of Matabeleland South, despite losing the Insiza constituency twice to ZANU-PF when he was with the opposition MDC.
Some controversies surrounding Moyo include a protracted house ownership dispute with a Bulawayo widow and an incident where a police officer guarding his home attempted suicide. There are also allegations of bias and partisanship against him as a ZEC commissioner.
Moyo’s entrepreneurial ventures include owning bars in Bulawayo and previously running Skyz Metro FM. Noluntu J plans to host her own gig, seemingly to prove her popularity. The drama’s far from over.
