Marriage Crumbles Over Spiritual Differences in Mutasa

A marriage that once held hope has ended up in Chief Mutasa’s community court, with the couple unable to overcome their differences over spiritual beliefs. Talent Zinyika, had sought spiritual help from white garment prophets, against her husband Noah Tapfira’s will, citing concerns for their unborn child’s safety.

According to Zinyika, a prophet warned her of evil spirits and danger to her child, prompting her to seek spiritual intervention. However, Tapfira accused her of having affairs with the prophets and grew suspicious of her actions.

The couple’s problems escalated after their child died seven days after birth, with Zinyika believing spiritual help was necessary. Tapfira, however, felt their marriage was being destroyed by Zinyika’s actions.

“I still love my husband, and I believe prophets can help us,” Zinyika said, while Tapfira claimed he was tired of living under “a cloud of suspicion and strange rituals”.

Chief Mutasa urged the couple to reconcile, saying, “This is not a divorce court – we build marriages here.” He advised Zinyika to apologize and be submissive, while telling Tapfira to give their marriage a chance.

“Your husband did not want you to visit these prophets, yet you continued,” Chief Mutasa said. “The same faith that destroyed your marriage should have strengthened it,” he added [Manica post].

The court ultimately left the decision to the couple, advising them to separate peacefully if they could no longer love each other.
