Hit-and-Run Epidemic: Three Fatal Accidents in 48 Hours

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a disturbing series of fatal hit-and-run accidents that claimed three lives on May 2 and 3, 2025. The incidents occurred on major highways, including the Harare-Mutare Road and Harare-Bulawayo Road, leaving families and loved ones in shock.

The accidents involved vulnerable road users, with one incident claiming the life of an 81-year-old woman on the Harare-Mutare Road in Marondera. Another incident occurred on the Harare-Bulawayo Road in Mbembesi, where a 30-year-old man was struck and killed.

In each case, the motorist responsible failed to stop and render assistance to the victims, sparking outrage and concern about road safety. The police are urging motorists to take responsibility and report accidents within 24 hours, emphasizing the importance of accountability and humanity on the roads.

The authorities are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible for these tragic incidents, ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.
