Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube Strikes Again .

Zimbabwe is cracking down on digital spending! Starting January 1, 2026, a 15% tax will be slapped on payments to offshore online platforms, affecting millions of Zimbabweans who love streaming, ride-hailing, and satellite internet.

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube announced this move, saying it’s time foreign digital giants paid their fair share. “It’s like they’re getting a free ride while local businesses are struggling,” he explained. The tax aims to level the playing field and boost government revenue .

Here’s the deal: whenever you pay for Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime, or even Starlink, the tax will be deducted automatically. It’s like a digital toll gate , except instead of tolls, it’s taxes!

Ncube reassured that this is a global trend, with many countries adapting to digital commerce. The goal is to create a fairer market for local businesses and increase revenue. So, get ready to pay a bit more for those online goodies !
