Cimas Health Group Partners with Egyptian Specialists for Pediatric Heart Surgeries

In a significant boost for pediatric cardiac care in Zimbabwe, Cimas Health Group has partnered with Egyptian cardiac specialists and local medical professionals to perform life-saving heart surgeries on children. This initiative, known as the Open Heart Camp, was held at Parirenyatwa Hospital and benefited 10 children with congenital heart defects.

Approximately 4,500 children are born with congenital heart disease each year in Zimbabwe, making this condition a significant health concern. The Open Heart Camp aims to address this issue by providing access to specialized cardiac care for children who need it most.

The success of the Open Heart Camp is a result of effective collaboration between the public and private sectors. Partners include the Health and Child Care ministry, National Oil Infrastructure Company of Zimbabwe, the Embassy of Egypt in Zimbabwe, Gift of Life International Foundation of the United States, the Rotary Club of Harare Central, and the Avenues Clinic.

Cimas Health Group chief executive Vuli Ndlovu emphasized the group’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Zimbabwe, aligning with the government’s Vision 2030. “We are not driven solely by profit,” he said. “Our guiding force is the profound responsibility of saving lives.”

The Open Heart Camp plays a crucial role in empowering local surgeons in pediatric cardiac care, an area that remains underdeveloped in the region. By supporting this initiative, Cimas Health Group and its partners are making a significant impact on the lives of children with congenital heart defects.

The success of the Open Heart Camp is a testament to the power of collaboration and commitment to improving healthcare. As Zimbabwe works towards achieving its Vision 2030, initiatives like this one will play a vital role in ensuring that all citizens have access to quality, world-class healthcare.
