Akon’s Divorce Drama , Wife’s €100M Claim Crumbles as Court Reveals $10K Bank Balance

In a shocking twist, Tomeka Thiam, wife of R&B sensation Akon, has reportedly lost her bid for a €100 million (approx. $108 million) divorce settlement after court documents exposed the singer’s precarious finances. The 29-year marriage between Akon (52) and Tomeka (45) ended with a bombshell , Akon’s bank account holds just $10,000, and his home isn’t fully paid off, leaving him in debt .

Tomeka, who claims to have fueled Akon’s music empire, real estate ventures, and the Akon Lighting Africa initiative, demanded the staggering sum as compensation. But the court’s findings suggest her husband’s wealth , estimated at $60 million , is largely tied up in his mother’s name, complicating the case. “If assets aren’t under his control, the settlement becomes harder to navigate,” a divorce lawyer warned .

With Akon’s finances in disarray, Tomeka’s own $10 million net worth may now be split 50/50. “She contributed to his success, but the court won’t reward her for his mismanagement,” insiders say. The couple shares a 17-year-old daughter, Zaara, and Tomeka seeks joint custody and spousal support.

Social media erupted with memes labeling Akon’s move “pulling a Hakimi,” referencing soccer star Achraf Hakimi’s divorce case (though that story was debunked as fake). Critics accuse Akon of shielding assets; others blame poor financial planning.

The singer remains silent, leaving fans stunned ,  “How does a global star have $10K?” .

Mediation is expected, but with Akon’s crypto, music, and African projects at stake, the battle could drag on. As one fan quipped: “Tomeka thought she married a king. Turns out, he’s broke .”
