Zimbabwean Couple Arrested in Major Luxury Car Smuggling Bust in East London

A Zimbabwean couple residing in East London has been apprehended on charges linked to a luxury car theft and smuggling operation valued at millions of British Pounds.

Detective Sarah Donnelly of the Metropolitan Police’s Vehicle Crime Unit described the case as “one of the largest smuggling networks we’ve disrupted in recent years.”

Tendai Chigova, 41, and his wife Melissa Chigova, 35, were arrested following a pre-dawn police raid. Authorities seized £250,000 in cash along with keys to several luxury vehicles, including BMWs, Mercedes-Benzes, and Range Rovers.

The stolen luxury cars are alleged to have been smuggled to destinations in West Africa and the Middle East. The investigation into this significant operation is ongoing.
