A Delta passenger bus travelling towards Zimbabwe was involved in a deadly head-on collision with an Isuzu heavy vehicle in Limpopo Province, South Africa, on Christmas Day, resulting in the deaths of both drivers.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety said the accident occurred at about 8:30 am on 25 December along the N1-29 route near Musekene, between Masekwa Bricks and Masekene Garage in the Vhembe District.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Isuzu truck driver attempted to overtake another vehicle at a point marked by a barrier line and collided head-on with the oncoming Delta bus.
Both drivers, who were male, died at the scene. Authorities reported that six passengers on the bus were injured, with two sustaining serious injuries and four others listed in critical condition.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
