Robert Mugabe Junior, son of Zimbabwe’s late former president Robert Mugabe, has been convicted of illegal possession of drugs. The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing two grams of dagga when he appeared before Harare Magistrate Lisa Mutendereki earlier today.
Mugabe’s troubles began on October 1 when police stopped his silver Honda Fit during a traffic operation in central Harare. Officers found a small stash of dagga, a pack of Rizla, and a dagga crusher in his bag. He was arrested and initially granted $300 bail, with conditions to report to the CID every Friday .
In court, Mugabe pleaded for leniency, citing he’s a single father of two. He’s expected back in court this afternoon for sentencing, facing possible fines, community service, or up to 6-12 months imprisonment, though first-time offenders often receive lenient sentences .
