Prophet Walter Magaya is still facing detention despite being granted $3,000 bail yesterday.

Prophet Walter Magaya, the founder of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries, remains in prison as his bail papers were not signed yesterday. His legal team is returning to court today to get the papers processed, but there’s a concern that he might be re-arrested immediately upon release on fresh charges. Sources within state security suggest that twelve heavily armed CID officers are waiting at Harare Remand Prison to re-arrest Magaya, unless someone high up intervenes to stop it .

Magaya was granted $3,000 bail by the Harare High Court, but the process has been delayed. He faces 13 counts of fraud and five counts of rape, and his wife Tendai was granted $500 bail and released. Magaya’s legal team claims the allegations are a “calculated plory” to destroy his reputation, while the State alleges he misrepresented himself as the owner of land sold to congregants and investors
