One passenger lost their life while ten others sustained injuries following a road traffic accident involving a Zhongtong bus on the Harare–Bulawayo Highway on Wednesday night.
The crash occurred at the 21-kilometre mark when the bus, which was carrying 12 passengers and travelling towards Harare, was involved in an overtaking manoeuvre. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway before overturning and coming to rest on its side.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that the accident happened at approximately 9:30 pm on 24 December 2025. Officers said the bus veered off to the right side of the road during the failed overtaking attempt.
One passenger died at the scene, while ten others were injured and required medical attention.
