A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Hope Fountain on the outskirts of Bulawayo has appeared in court facing charges of grɑbbing a 51-year-old woman’s brǝɑƨt without her consent.
Mthokozisi Sibanda appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa charged with indecent assault as defined in Section 67 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody on $30 000 bail.
Circumstances are that on 24 April and at around 8pm, the complainant was at the Bulawayo City Hall talking to a certain boy when Sibanda reportedly came and started assaulting that boy for no apparent reason.
When the complainant asked Sibanda why he was assaulting the boy he swiftly walked up to the woman and allegedly grɑbbed her brǝɑƨt before walking away.
Out of fear the woman screamed and passersby came to her rescue.
The woman later made a report to the police leading to the arrest of Sibanda and his subsequent appearance in court.
