Manchester City Confirms Sergio Gomez As Fourth Club Signing

Manchester City have completed the signing of the left-back Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht.

Pep Guardiola’s side signed the youthful Gomez for £11 million and the left-back who is a replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko, penned a four year deal with Man-City.

Manchester City was forced back into the market to look for the replacement of Zinchenko after missing out on Brighton and Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella who joined Chelsea.

The switch of Cucurella to City flopped after the Blues rejected to pay a fee above £40 million. After this development, Chelsea quickly snatched Cucurella as City remained reluctant on further pushing for the player.

What Sergio Gomez Said After Penning The Deal

The 21 year old Gomez will be donning the famous iconic jersey number 21 which was worn by the club legend David Silva. After putting the pen on paper, Gomez said:

“I am incredibly proud and happy to have joined Manchester City.

“City are the best team in England and in Pep Guardiola I have a chance to learn and develop under the most outstanding manager in world football.

“To be able to be part of this club is a dream come true for me and something any young player would aspire to.

“The number of trophies City have won over the past few years has been incredible and the style of football the team plays under Pep is the most exciting in Europe. Playing for and being guided by Pep and his coaches is going to be very special.

“I’ve heard so much about the City fans and how passionate they are, so I can’t wait to get started and to try and help the club achieve even more.”

However, it was expected that Pep Guardiola was going to loan the wonder kid but the coach has revealed that Gomez will be part of the squad at Etihad.
