2022/23 Premier League Top Four Odds: Can Man United And Arsenal Break The UEFA Curse?

The Premier League top four race kicks off today with an opening fixture between London rivals Crystal Palace and Arsenal at Selhurst Park.

Looking at the Premier League top four odds, it is not surprising that the title defenders Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea are the favorites to finish in the top four.

As of last season, the top four was decided on the last day where Manchester City was crowned  2021/22 Premier League champions following its miraculous 3-2 comeback win against Aston Villa at Etihad stadium. Liverpool finished in second place separated by just a single point from City.

Looking at the odds of the 2022/23 season which is just a few hours from kick-starting,it seems like we are going to witness another City-Liverpool battle for the two top spots.

According to Paddy Power, City will seal the 2022/23 season as Premier League champions again. Paddy Power is offering odds of 1/100 whilst SkyBet offered 1/50. City has a 99.39% chance of ending the season as the champions.

Liverpool having lost their mainstay forward Sadio Mane to Bayern, Klopp replaced him with Darwin Nunez who is capable of doing wonders for the Reds. Having beefed up his squad with Nunez, Klopp is completely geared for a top-four finish, or perhaps win the league. Maybe basing on the aforementioned, Liverpool has been offered the second-best odds (1/16).

Tottenham Hotspurs has been given the third best odds of 4/6 as according to Paddy Power. Antonio Conte joined Hotspurs last season and he has assembled a sober squad that can compete at the highest level. With Harry Kane and Son Heung-min upfront and in good shape, Hotspurs will be a menace to several teams.

Chelsea is also top four contenders. The Blues faced torrid times last season as former club owner Roman Abramovich was forced to sell the club to Todd Boehly after he was hit by stiff sanctions. And this season Chelsea made key signings; Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly to strengthen its squad. With such additions, Skybet offered odds of 4/6 to Chelsea.

However, Manchester United and Arsenal according to the odds, are likely to miss the top four again. Last season the two had a torturous season, missing out on securing their UEFA Champions League spot.

Meanwhile, both have made some promising signings ahead of the 2022/23 season and they had an impressive pre-season run. Looking at both of the teams’ pre-season performances one should not completely rule the two out of the top four spots since anything can happen in the world of football.
