Highlanders Football Club has condemned the pitch invasion, missile throwing, vandalism and violence that occurred during their match against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday. The match had to be abandoned. We present iBosso’s statement:

Highlanders Football dub is saddened by the acts of pitch invasion, missile throwing, vandalism and violence that characterized the country’s flagship fixture, at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

The conducts negatively profiles our game at a time the league and clubs are still trying to convince more corporates that there is value in sponsoring football. We would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the sponsors of the game, and all other stakeholders who were equally affected by the Sunday incidents.

The club joins all other stakeholders in fighting this disease, as we are already seized in trying to come up with measures and practices that will bring a lasting solution to this problem.

We would also like to implore the club members to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner on the terraces during soccer matches by shunning missile throwing and pitch invasions.

Should a member of the club be caught participating in such acts that bring the name of the club and football into disrepute, the club’s leadership will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against such a member, as enshrined in our statutes.
