Dingilizwe Dzingai (41) from Gutsaruzhinji area in Shurugwi North was struck and killed with an axe by a colleague after he won a cellphone during gambling.
The incident happened on November 27, 2021.
Dzingai won Ison Chibaya’s cellphone during gambling and and took it home. Chibaya later ganged up with a friend and went to Dzingai’s homestead where a fight broke out and the latter struck Dzingai with an axe on the head.
Dzingai died at Shurugwi District Hospital a day later.
Midlands Police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to The Mirror and he urged the community not to resolve matters by fighting.
