Sungura ace Alick Macheso’s sons on track. The 19-year-old, who shared a roof with Macheso’s sons in Waterfalls for months where he was ‘adopted’ after his father’s death respects his mentor’s kids. Tedious Muchapedza Matsito Junior says Alick Macheso’s sons Esau and Tatenda are fast learners, who deserve love.
He spoke to H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle on the sidelines of Macheso’s family show held at Club Las Vegas on Sunday. “When Baba Sharo took me at his Waterfalls home as his son at a time when my father was unwell until he died, I had an opportunity to learn from him.
“He would take us for lessons the three of us and we meant business since guitars are there. “I impressed by the rate this pair has progressed which shows that their father’s legacy is in safe hands.
“Tonight (last Sunday) you have seen how talented are they and the progress they have made in mastering both the guitars and vocals,” he said. Matsito Junior who inherited his father’s Ngwenya Brothers said the pair needed to remain focused to scale greater heights.
“Music requires one to remain grounded if they are to make it to the top. “Of course people might praise us but we are not yet there in terms of giving people quality.
“However, people should be proud that at least we are following in the footsteps of our parents. “With their support and proper management, we will definitely make it to the stars,” he said.
Matsito, who along with Esau and Tatenda were showered with wads of US dollars by music fanatic Wanisayi “Mahwindo” Mutandwa on stage, said it was encouraging when their followers go out of their way to show them love.
“Tonight I was humbled by the love I received both on and off the stage where fans showed me some love. “Some gave us money while others who are unwell braved the night just to be with us.
“It’s hard for one to live his family to be with us during such trying times,” he added. Meanwhile, Macheso who fronts a star-studded outfit laden with talent, had a good show at the Club Las Vegas where he has never disappointed.
Speaking through his publicist Tich Makahamadze, the Orchestra Mberikwazvo camp remains humbled by the overwhelming support they have been receiving. “We are grateful to our fans who have always been loyal to us which means a lot for us.
“In the past couple of weeks, fans have been very loyal to us that before and we praying for more good times to come. “However, we still urge our fans to adhere to the Covid-19 restrictions as the pandemic is still in our midst,” said Makahamadze.
