A 69-YEAR-OLD granny, her daughter and three grandchildren were found dead yesterday on Mavhuradonha Mountain.

According to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the five had attempted a 200 km walk from Manhondo village in Mukumbura, Mt Darwin to Guruve.

The family were missing since November 3.

An unidentified hunter, who was on the mountain in the early morning, discovered the bodies.

“The ZRP reports that bodies of five people aged 69, 29, seven, five and a one year old minor, were found at Mavhuradonha Mountain today (yesterday) by a hunter who then reported to the police.

“It is claimed that the family had left Manhondo Village, Mukumbura, Mt Darwin on foot on their way to Guruve, a distance of about 200km on November 3.

“More details to follow,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.

Police say they are yet to establish the cause of death and notify next of kin.
