HE fell in love with a magosha and decided to steal money from his work place so that she can settle her debts.

A former financial officer at a construction company in Australia was sentenced to two years and four months in jail for stealing $840 000 (about R13 million).

According to Manning River Times, the 49-year-old man appeared in the Victorian County Court on Wednesday, 15 November.

It is reported that the man pleaded guilty to funnelling the money into his accounts by issuing 36 false leave invoices between 2012 and 2013, while he worked at a construction payroll company.

The court heard that the unusual theft was driven by the man’s love for the magosha.

Mandurah Mail reported that the man and his mother had already repaid $600 000 (about R9 million) to the company.

The woman reportedly lied to the man and claimed that her family had been threatened after a large debt owed to criminals.

The man told the court that he wanted to save and help her stop working as a pr0stitute.

After handing down the judgment, Judge Richard Maidment said the man would have to serve at least one year and four months in prison before being eligible for parole.
