Two people died in separate accidents that happened near Beatrice along the Masvingo – Harare Highway on Sunday.

Mashonaland East Police Spokesperson Simon Chazovachiyi said that at around 7:39 pm at the 24km peg, a driver driving a Toyota Hilux in the direction of Harare hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road and the person died on the spot. The body was taken to Beatrice Rural Hospital for a postmortem.

During the same hour and on the same road a driver of a Nissan NP 200 with five passengers on board got a tyre burst on approaching the 23 km peg and the car vehicle veered off the road.

One passenger died on the spot while three were injured. The deceased was taken to Beatrice Hospital for a postmortem.

Chazovachiyi urged drivers to exercise caution on the road and observe designated speed limits.
