Mliswa Demands VP Chiwenga’s Wife Resign from Military

Mliswa Demands VP Chiwenga’s Wife Resign from Military

In a shocking escalation of Zimbabwe’s ruling party’s internal power struggle, firebrand politician Temba Mliswa has called for Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife to resign from the Zimbabwe National Army, labeling her a “politically exposed person” whose presence undermines military discipline. The explosive demand, made via social media on Sunday, drags the private lives of political families into the public arena, signaling a ruthless new phase in the battle for succession.

In his post, “SABHUKU’S EYE,” Mliswa questioned how the VP’s wife, a serving military officer, can maintain her role amid her husband’s “treasonous” political maneuvers. “How does the wife of the VP continue working when she’s a politically exposed person?” he asked. “Who can oversee her with professional detachment? No one!” he argued, insisting her position creates an “unfair situation” for her superiors.

Mliswa’s attack was part of a broader appeal for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to “chuck sellouts out” of government, citing “multiple intelligence leaks” betraying disloyal officials. He contrasted Mnangagwa’s 2004 “patience” with Chiwenga’s “reckless ambition,” accusing the VP of attempting a coup.

The move risks deepening ZANU-PF’s divisions, with critics warning it coarsens political conflict. The Zimbabwe National Army has remained silent, but analysts note this could erode public trust in institutions. Chiwenga’s camp has yet to respond.
