Masasi High School Embroiled in Abuse and Misconduct Scandal, Teachers Impregnating Students

Workers Unpaid, Students Unruly ~Masasi High School’s Struggles

by  Bridget  Mukwena

A recent investigation at Masasi High School has uncovered a disturbing pattern of abuse and misconduct, prompting the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to launch a fact-finding mission.

According to sources, a gang rape case was reported at Marange Police Station, but authorities have yet to provide any information on the case’s status. Furthermore, allegations have surfaced that three male teachers impregnated students and arranged for them to have abortions. One of the teachers has since transferred, leaving the current headmaster and another staff member to face disciplinary action.

The scandal has raised concerns about leadership and accountability at the school. “Leadership turnover threatens continuity of development programs,” said a source close to the matter. “If the person in charge of the day-to-day running of the institution is entangled in such allegations, it’s likely that the books of finance are not in safe hands.”

The police station’s handling of the rape case has also come under scrutiny. Daily roadblocks at Sithole shopping centre appear to take priority over staff deployment, sparking questions about the station’s priorities.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has been urged to conduct a thorough investigation and take swift action to address the allegations. The scandal has sparked outrage, with many calling for the ministry to ensure that the school is held accountable and that students are protected from abuse and exploitation.

As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on edge, eagerly awaiting answers and action. The late Dr. Simon Muzenda’s vision for the school’s future hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen whether the ministry will take decisive action to restore integrity and trust.

The ministry has yet to comment on the matter, but sources indicate that a full investigation is underway.
