Married Man Arrested After Kidnapping and Brutally Assaulting Sidechick and Her Child in Moving Vehicle

A chilling ordeal unfolded recently involving Marvellous Baro, a 30-year-old married man, who now faces serious legal trouble after allegedly kidnapping his sidechick, Nothabo Sibanda, and her three-year-old child — only to subject her to a savage assault inside his moving car.

The horrifying incident began on August 4th following a day spent with Nothabo, her child, and relatives. When Nothabo refused Baro’s invitation to visit his home in Pumula South, his reaction was violent and explosive.

Court proceedings revealed that Baro’s fury erupted when he stormed out of the vehicle, grabbing Nothabo by the throat and landing a punch to her face. Despite desperate pleas and attempts by others to intervene, Baro allegedly overpowered everyone and forcefully shoved Nothabo and her toddler back into the car.

What followed was a terrifying drive marked by brutal attacks. Baro reportedly drove at reckless speeds, stopping intermittently to continue beating Nothabo, leaving her bleeding heavily from her nose and mouth.

The nightmare reached a turning point near Hillside Police Station, where Nothabo seized the chance to escape. She flung open the car door and jumped from the moving vehicle, screaming for help as Baro gave chase, relentlessly continuing his assault.

Fortunately, officers at the nearby station heard her cries and rushed to her rescue. Baro attempted a hasty escape but was quickly apprehended by police.

Now behind bars, Baro faces two counts of kidnapping. At his hearing before Regional Magistrate Mark Dzira, he pleaded not guilty, but his bail application was denied. The case is set to continue on September 8th.
