Kaya FM Suspends Sol Phenduka Amidst Podcast Drama With Mac G

Kaya FM Suspends Sol Phenduka Amidst Podcast Drama With Mac G

Meanwhile in  South Africa , Kaya 959 has put popular radio host and podcaster Sol Phenduka on an immediate timeout — or, as the station calls it, a “suspension.” The announcement came yesterday, Wednesday, August 20, leaving fans wondering if their favorite voice will be back soon or just taking an extended commercial break.

Kaya 959 cryptically cited an “internal process” as the reason for the suspension, which sounds suspiciously like the corporate version of “we’re figuring this out.” But insiders, including the ever-knowledgeable DJ Fresh, have spilled the tea: it’s all about a flashy R2.5 million lawsuit thrown by none other than media star Minnie Dlamini.

The drama unfolds in the hallowed halls of the Equality Court, where Dlamini accuses Sol and his Podcast and Chill co-host, MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho, of engaging in a verbal assault of epic proportions—think misogyny, defamation, and a dash of gender-based discrimination. Apparently, the pair’s commentary on Dlamini’s personal life and hygiene post-breakup with Dr. Brian Monaisa struck a nerve sharp enough to warrant legal action.

Dlamini isn’t just asking for money to soothe her bruised dignity (R1 million, please); she’s also demanding R1.5 million to be donated to a non-profit fighting gender-based violence. A noble cause, if nothing else.

Kaya 959 assures everyone that this suspension saga will be handled with “fairness, sensitivity, and due process,” although exactly what that looks like remains a mystery—no spoilers, please. Meanwhile, fans and industry observers are left spinning theories, preparing popcorn, and wondering if this drama will end with a heartfelt reconciliation or just a really awkward silence on the airwaves.
