The Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Action Group, popularly known as Friends of Ingutsheni, successfully celebrated the annual Early Christmas Lunch at Ingutsheni Hospital on 27 November 2025.
This noble initiative began in 2018 serving lunch to 130 patients at Ingutsheni, with continued kindness and generosity of partners and supporters, it has grown into a large-scale celebration. This year, the initiative provided meals to over 600 patients and all staff members on duty. The early Christmas celebration brought joy, dignity, and festive cheer to one of Zimbabwe’s most important mental health institutions Ingutsheni Psychiatric Hospital.
Patients, hospital staff, and dedicated volunteers drawn from various schools like Mpopoma High School, Hamilton High School and community organisations. The atmosphere at the party was filled with celebration and gratitude, with both patients and staff expressing deep appreciation for the love, care, and support shown through this early Christmas gesture.
The success of the 2025 Early Christmas Lunch was made possible through the support of the following partners:

Zimbabwe Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Association (ZARDA),
Rotaract Club of Bulawayo West, Epilepsy and Seizures Empowered Support Group, Special Invitees were Mpopoma High School Interact Club, Hamilton High School Interact Club ,Tree of Life Organization, Rotarians.
Families and community members living with or caring for individuals facing mental health challenges are strongly encouraged to seek professional help at Ingutsheni Hospital. They may also contact the Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Action Group for guidance and referral to appropriate support services.
Ingutsheni Hospital continues to face infrastructural challenges, particularly with water supply. The institution would significantly benefit from the installation of solar-powered boreholes to ensure consistent access to clean water and improved patient care.
