Dr. Misheck Sibanda Takes the Helm at National Railways of Zimbabwe

Former Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Misheck Sibanda, has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) board, effective September 1. Dr. Sibanda succeeds Advocate Mike Madiro and is set to meet with NRZ management and address the media.

With a distinguished career spanning over two decades as Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet under both President Robert Mugabe and President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Dr. Sibanda brings extensive experience in governance and leadership. He has also lectured at the University of Zimbabwe and held various positions in government, including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Welfare Services for War Veterans.

Dr. Sibanda’s appointment comes as NRZ seeks to revamp its operations. His first official engagement was chairing a full board meeting in Harare this week. He is scheduled to be officially introduced to NRZ management in Bulawayo today .

As chairman, Dr. Sibanda will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Zimbabwe’s railway system. His experience and leadership skills are expected to drive positive change and improvement in the country’s transportation infrastructure.
