Corporate Hijack Foiled: Zimasco Takes Down Rogue Lawyer

In a stunning victory, Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd, a leading ferrochrome producer in Zimbabwe, has secured a High Court order against lawyer Wilson Manase. Manase’s alleged attempt to hijack the company using a court order referencing a non-existent entity, Sinosteel Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd, has been thwarted.

According to court papers, Manase claimed to be the corporate rescue practitioner for Zimasco without any authority. The company’s management was caught off guard, stating that Manase’s actions were an attempt to assume a role he was not entitled to. The court ultimately granted Zimasco an interdict against Manase’s claims, putting a spoke in his wheel.

But that wasn’t all – Manase and his associates allegedly tried to strong-arm Ecobank into handing over control of Zimasco’s accounts. When the bank refused, citing discrepancies in the court order, Manase and his team showed up at Zimasco’s head office, claiming authority to take over the company’s management. Talk about brazen.

Zimasco has lodged a complaint with the Law Society of Zimbabwe regarding Manase’s alleged unethical conduct and that of another lawyer, Valentine Kwande. The company remains determined to protect its interests and reputation. The outcome of this corporate drama is still uncertain, and the situation continues to unfold.

High Court judge Faith Mushure granted Zimasco the interdict, dealing a significant blow to Manase’s plans. The court’s decision marks a major victory for Zimasco, which has been embroiled in a bitter dispute with businessman Shephard Tundiya and his company, Avim Investments (Pvt) Ltd.

Details of the Court Case
The court case revolved around a court order obtained by Avim Investments (Pvt) Ltd, which Manase claimed gave him authority to take over Zimasco’s management. However, the court found that the order was obtained against Sinosteel Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd, a non-existent entity. Zimasco argued that it was not served with the court papers and that Manase’s actions were an attempt to hijack the company.

In a statement, Zimasco said, “This decision marks a major victory for Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd, whose management expressed surprise over how Wilson Manase attempted to position himself as the corporate rescue practitioner for Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd while using a court order against Sinosteel Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd, a company with no ties or relationship to Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd.”

The High Court has prohibited lawyer Wilson Manase from representing himself as Zimasco’s corporate rescue practitioner.

As the dust settles, one question remains: what’s next for Zimasco and its embattled management? Will Manase and his associates regroup and launch another attack, or will Zimasco emerge victorious in this corporate showdown? Only time will tell.
