Pakare Paye Arts Centre is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Oliver Mtukudzi’s music journey, spanning from 1975 to 2025. The event will feature performances by renowned Zimbabwean artists, including Resident DJ MC Elder Gadzo, DJ Ashizamaniza, Baba Harare, Killer T, and Feli Nandi, among others.

Gogo Daisy Mtukudzi, the late musician’s wife, expressed her happiness to be joined by fellow Zimbabwean artists as they celebrate her husband’s illustrious career. “She felt comfortable,” says the statement.

One of Oliver Mtukudzi’s mentees, MC Elder Gadzo, who received production and music lessons at Pakare Paye Arts Centre, is now a music promoter. Dr. Mtukudzi had offered Gadzo free lessons, reflecting his passion for teaching and uplifting emerging artists.

Born in 1952, Oliver Mtukudzi’s music career began in the early 1970s and spanned over four decades until his death in 2019. His music, rooted in African Traditional styles, addressed themes of love, social injustice, and real-life stories. Mtukudzi, affectionately known as “Tuku,” was a celebrated Zimbabwean musician, songwriter, and philanthropist who left an indelible mark on the country’s music industry.

The anniversary celebration promises to be a memorable event, with performances, tributes, and reflections on Tuku’s life and legacy. The event will also provide a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents and pay homage to the legendary musician.

The Pakare Paye Arts Centre, founded by Mtukudzi, has been a hub for music and arts development in Zimbabwe, providing a platform for artists to hone their craft and showcase their talents.
