In a shocking turn of events, the home of former Chitungwiza deputy mayor Rangarirai Mutingwende was bombed. The incident, which occurred late Thursday night, left the property damaged but thankfully no one was hurt. Mutingwende, a member of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), believes the attack was politically motivated, and honestly, who can blame him?
According to the family, the bombing was preceded by two days of surveillance, with two white Toyota Fortuners parked outside the property. Mutingwende had raised the alarm about the suspicious vehicles, but it seems no one took him seriously. “What could possibly go wrong?” they probably thought.
The bombing wasn’t the only exciting event of the day. Mutingwende’s daughter, Jerita, narrowly escaped abduction, thanks to the bravery of local citizens who intervened. One can only imagine the conversation: “Hey, we’re here to abduct you!” “Uh, nope, not today, thanks to these awesome neighbors!”
The incident has sent shockwaves through the opposition community, raising concerns about the safety of opposition figures. The CCC is yet to issue a formal statement, but insiders say they’re treating the matter as a targeted act of political violence. Because, you know, bombing someone’s home is totally a friendly gesture.
The police have yet to comment on the incident or launch an investigation. One can only hope they’ll get to the bottom of this explosive situation (pun intended).
