MaWhoo Attacked While Travelling to New Year’s Eve Show

MaWhoo Attacked While Travelling to New Year’s Eve Show

Amapiano star MaWhoo has revealed a terrifying ordeal after she and her team were allegedly attacked while travelling to their final performance of 2025.

The singer, born Thandeka Nontobeko Ngema (31), was en route to Sun City in South Africa’s North West province for the iRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve event when the incident occurred on Wednesday, December 31.

According to MaWhoo, occupants of another vehicle attacked her convoy, causing damage to the V-Class vehicle she was travelling in. She later shared footage on social media showing a broken side mirror and visible damage to the car.

“I hope their fingerprints will show here. There’s also their blood here. One of them got hurt,” she said in the video, describing the frightening encounter.

Following the incident, MaWhoo’s team issued a statement confirming that the singer was unable to perform at the highly anticipated New Year’s Eve celebration at Sun City.

“We regret to confirm that Ntobeko Ngema, also known as MaWhoo, could not perform at the Rusty Rocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve event due to circumstances beyond her control,” the statement read.

The team further explained that the attack caused extensive damage to their touring vehicle, resulting in significant delays that made it impossible for the artist to arrive in time for her scheduled performance, despite efforts by both MaWhoo Entertainment and event organisers.

MaWhoo’s management apologised to fans and stakeholders who had been looking forward to her performance, assuring them that the matter is being taken seriously.

“We have identified the alleged perpetrators and will be pursuing legal action,” the statement added.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of support online, with fans condemning the alleged attack and expressing concern for the safety of artists while travelling for performances.
