CELEBRATING AND DEFENDING OUR UNITY…. 💪🏽🤝🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼
Today, I PROUDLY join the Nation to celebrate Zimbabwe’s UNITY DAY, when we commemorate the HISTORIC signing of the Unity Accord in 1987 by the late former President Cde R. G. Mugabe and the late former Vice President Dr. Joshua Nkomo, which brought together ZANLA and ZIPRA forces. This Day stands as a powerful reminder of our COLLECTIVE resolve to uphold PEACE and UNITY as Zimbabweans. It also reflects the enduring spirit of PATRIOTISM within the SECURITY SERVICES, especially the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, who have made Zimbabwe to be one of the most PEACEFUL Countries in the WORLD.
As we celebrate this UNITY DAY, we must honour the GALLANT men and women in uniform who serve our Nation with PRIDE . Under the VISIONARY leadership of His Excellency, the President and COMMANDER‑IN‑CHIEF of the Defense Forces, Zimbabwe continues to make meaningful investments in the WELFARE of its security personnel, both serving and retired. Government’s commitment is EVIDENT through various programmes and institutions such as the ZDF hospital in Nyanga, which provides FREE medical care to members of the Defence Forces. As young PATRIOTIC businesspeople however, we must fully embrace our RESPONSIBILITY to complement Government’s efforts through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Over the years, various institutional Cheer Funds such as the ZDF Commander’s Christmas Cheer Fund, the ZRP Commissioner General’s Cheer Fund and the ZPCS Commissioner General’s Cheer Fund, have COMPASSIONATELY supported those who have dedicated their lives to NATIONAL SERVICE. These Funds have helped pay school fees for ORPHANS, provided health support to injured and disabled veterans, delivered groceries to WIDOWS in rural outposts and extended care to RETIRED officers living in challenging circumstances. During this FESTIVE SEASON, these Cheer Funds ensure that those who serve or have served in the security services are NOT LEFT BEHIND.
It is in this spirit of UNITY and NATIONAL SERVICE that I am pleased to make the following donations, in support of the various Cheer Funds, particularly during this festive season:
🎖️ ZDF Commander’s Christmas Cheer Fund – 10 x 2025 Toyota Land Cruisers 300 Series VXR & USD 1,000,000 in cash;
ZRP Commissioner General’s Cheer Fund – 5 x 2025 Toyota Land Cruisers 300 Series VXR & USD 500,000 in cash; and
ZPCS Commissioner General’s Cheer Fund – 5 x 2025 Toyota Land Cruisers 300 Series VXR & USD 500,000 in cash.
The vehicles are intended to support WELFARE‑focused and operational OUTREACH programmes under the respective Cheer Funds. Importantly, while the vehicles are READY for immediate handover through FARAMATSI Motors and the cash is available for distribution immediately, this ENTIRE donation is SUBJECT to the APPROVAL by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and COMMANDER‑IN‑CHIEF of the Defense Forces.
As we celebrate this Unity Day, I SALUTE the enduring leadership of the Service Chiefs and Commissioner Generals, who SERVE our Country with great humility and DISTINCTION 👌🏾.
